Final dip in the hot springs after breakfast. The rains have definitely arrived as it rained all morning
from Kapishya to Mpika where we stopped to restock. For once we managed to buy everything from
local shops, rather than resorting to a supermarket, including meat from the
Zambeef butchers.
Arrived at Mutinondo Lodge to be redirected 11 km back to
their delightful private campsite, Kankonde, by the river. As we approached the site a storm was clearly
brewing over the hills (huge granite kopjies) and we half expected to get wet
again but although the thunder rumbled the storm it passed over us.
The site even has its own dining area with table and chairs
plus an attendant, Harrison, who was fantastic and prepared a fire and hot
water for the bucket shower. We had a
fabulous dinner of bbq pork chops, a real treat!
