Mutinondo has lots of opportunity to hike, so we set off the
walk to the lodge around the “Caterpillar” kopje but ended up walking up it.
The walk to the base of the Caterpillar was 4 km through beautiful woodland, we
then started climbing up the back of the Caterpillar, luckily there was some
cloud cover as it was a steep climb and there was no shade. The views from the
top were well worth the climb as we could see right across the Mutinondo
wilderness area.
By the time we got back to camp it had taken 4 hours – an
afternoon siesta called for! Ian slept
in the hammock while I read and wrote up the blog. We managed to rouse ourselves to cook
sausages for tea and sat and watched all the insects in the torch light.
