Day 96 Spitzkoppe Rest Campsite

Morning spent exploring the rock formations and clambering up the giant granite rocks.  We managed to climb to the top of the kopjie behind our camp – the heat making even this small climb exhausting.  We then tried to clamber up a much bigger rock face but a huge ravine prevented us from reaching our target.  Our third attempt at a climb took us up a very steep sheet of granite which again proved to be a bit too ambitious but it was fun trying!  We decided that we had perhaps better just walk around the kopjies rather than trying to climb them but even this turned out to be quite tricky as we were now walking in the mid-day sun but it was a beautiful walk and we made it back to camp with water to spare.  The rest of the day was slightly less energetic though – lunch in the camp café followed by a leisurely afternoon in the shade reading.
